Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart Are Rival Spies… Who Meet in a Lamaze Class

Henry Cavill apparently intends to star in every spy franchise except James Bond.

After The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and Argylle, he’s back in the espionage business—this time opposite Kevin Hart in an untitled action comedy directed by McG.

And the premise? Honestly, this could be pretty damn funny.

Cavill and Hart play rival spies who run into each other at a Lamaze class. Their pregnant wives, played by Justine Lupe and Aja Naomi King, become friends, forcing the two men to spend time together.

Imagine being trained to withstand interrogation, survive assassination attempts, and dismantle an international criminal organization… only to find out you have to spend Saturday afternoon practicing breathing exercises with Kevin Hart.

There is no training for that.

Cavill playing the deadly serious straight man while Hart slowly drives him out of his mind feels like a pairing with some potential. Give them good dialogue and actual chemistry, and there could be a fun buddy comedy here. Just don’t assume Hart yelling automatically counts as a joke.

McG, whose credits include Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation, is directing, with Jason Isaacs also joining the cast. Hart is producing alongside Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy.

Meanwhile, Cavill hasn’t completely abandoned the idea of entering the Bond universe. He’s suggested that playing 007 may have passed him by, but he’d still be interested in playing a Bond villain.

Now THAT I’d watch.

Cavill in an immaculate suit, calmly explaining something absolutely monstrous while Bond figures out how to escape? Yeah, give me that movie.

For now, the next Bond remains a guessing game, with Slow Horses star Jack Lowden among the rumored names. Cavill, meanwhile, has Highlander and Warhammer 40,000 keeping him occupied alongside this latest spy adventure.

Swords. Spies. Warhammer. Kevin Hart.

One of those sounds considerably more exhausting than the others.
