Okay, DC might be trying to hide its new Wonder Woman in plain sight.
After watching Sadie Sink spend months dodging questions about whether she was playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it looks like Adria Arjona may be getting the same treatment ahead of James Gunn’s Supermansequel, Man of Tomorrow.
Arjona’s role is officially being kept under wraps, but DC fans are increasingly convinced she’s playing Wonder Woman in the rebooted DC Universe.
And honestly?
Her workout routine isn’t exactly helping kill that rumor.
Arjona says she starts her day with 45 minutes of cardio, followed by two hours of weightlifting. Then she eats, boxes for six rounds, eats again, eats some more and finally goes to sleep.
That’s not a workout routine.
That’s Amazonian military training.
Arjona was originally rumored to be playing Maxima, the powerful alien queen who has served as both a Superman villain and occasional love interest in the comics. But then reports began circulating that Maxima might be nothing more than a decoy designed to hide the fact that Arjona is actually replacing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Naturally, Arjona isn’t saying who she’s playing.
She did, however, say that “the excitement of playing the woman I’m playing” gives her the motivation to survive the physically exhausting transformation—and then added that it was all “for the greater good.”
Come on.
You’re training for nearly four hours a day, boxing for six rounds and talking about playing some mysterious woman for “the greater good.”
Are we really supposed to believe she’s preparing to play Lois Lane’s aggressive new personal trainer?
DC will probably keep playing this game until Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9.
But if Adria Arjona walks onto the screen wearing armor and carrying a sword, nobody better pretend they’re surprised.
