Well, this is definitely NOT the kind of record Gal Gadot wanted to break.
Her new Amazon Prime Video action thriller, The Runner, has arrived—and critics are absolutely destroying it.
As of September 2, the movie is sitting at a brutal 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the worst-reviewed film of Gadot’s career.
Nine percent.
At that point, Rotten Tomatoes should probably stop displaying a tomato and replace it with one of those little air-freshener trees you hang in your car.
Directed by Kevin Macdonald, The Runner stars Gadot as Maia Marten, a powerful London attorney who has built her career by always staying one step ahead. Naturally, because this is an action thriller, something happens that forces her to start doing some actual running.
Look, professional critics aren’t always right. Plenty of movies they hated eventually found an audience—and plenty of movies they loved disappeared from public consciousness approximately 20 minutes after awards season ended.
But 9% is rough.
That isn’t mixed reviews.
That’s critics collectively watching the movie, looking at one another and asking:
“Are we sure this thing is finished?”
Maybe audiences will be kinder.
Because at this point, Gal Gadot isn’t running from the bad guys.
She’s running from the Rotten Tomatoes score.
