South Park is coming back… but apparently it’s going to make us wait for it.
Season 29 of South Park officially premieres Wednesday, September 16 at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central, with episodes hitting Paramount+ the following day.
But here’s the catch.
Season 29 is only six episodes long—and they’re releasing them every two weeks.
Yep. We’re getting a new episode, then waiting two weeks for another one. That schedule will stretch the six-episode season all the way into late November.
Now, this isn’t exactly unprecedented for South Park. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have never been afraid to screw around with what a traditional TV season is supposed to look like. But at least Comedy Central is giving us the schedule ahead of time instead of leaving everyone wondering when the hell the next episode is coming.
And considering how insanely fast South Park can turn current events into an episode, the two-week gaps could actually make things interesting. God only knows what these guys will have to work with by November.
Six episodes isn’t much.
One episode every two weeks is going to test my patience.
But after nearly 30 seasons, South Park is still finding ways to piss people off, make headlines and somehow remain culturally relevant.
So yeah, I’ll wait the damn two weeks.
