Wonder Woman 3 fast-tracked, but what does that mean?

Wonder Woman 3 is being fast-tracked, Warner Bros. announced. The news comes as the pic has amounted to $85M WW after a $16.7M domestic debut.

The threequel will be written by Patty Jenkins, who is attached to direct, and starring Gal Gadot.

“As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of Wonder Woman 1984, we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real life Wonder Women – Gal and Patty – who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

Okay. But what does this mean?

There were already rumors that there would be a “Themyscira” series on TV that would bridge the gap between WW1984 and WW3. Then there is the fact that Patty Jenkins is now knee deep (or more) on her next project, “Rogue Squadron”, the next Star Wars film.

So even if we throw out the “Themyscira” series, Jenkins still has to get through this Star Wars flick, THEN get to writing the WW3 script, THEN shoot it. Fast tracked or not, don’t expect a new Wonder Woman for at least 2-3 years.

And can I make a suggestion? Since Patty Jenkins is so busy, and WW1984 was so badly written, why not have someone else write it? Just a thought.
